Band: KASTA Söndag 10 november Insläpp: 18.00 Live: ca 19.00 Åldersgräns: 13+ år i målsmans sällskap
Formed in 1997, KASTA (Каста) is a legend of Russian rap. No exaggeration: KASTA is THE artist that gave rap music cult status in their home country. The band consists of four members: Vlady, Shym, Hamil and Zmey. Starting their career with a hardcore hip-hop sound that drew on East Coast inspirations, they eventually turned towards a much more diverse palette. They currently have over 10 full-length studio albums to their credit, the most recent of which is Novinki Zarubezhnogo Rapa, released on September 6 th 2024 – to great acclaim among fans and critics alike.
KASTA hails from Rostov-on-Don, a city close to Ukraine’s border with Russia. The uncompromisingly condemned the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine on the very day it started, February 24, 2022, stating: “We are shocked by Russia’s attack on Ukraine. This is pure military aggression that has no justification”. Shortly after that band members had to flee the country: Kasta’s concerts and airplays are now prohibited in Russia.
Antiwar and antitotalitarian lyrics characterize KASTA’s work of the recent years. Their “Vyhodi gulyat” (“Come out for a walk”) became one of the anthems of Belarusian freedom movement 2020, while member Vlady’s solo album “February lasts and lasts” released 2023 (referral to the date of Russia’s invasion into Ukraine) reflects over the devastating effect of this shameful act onto the whole generation.
On top of that, every KASTA’s show is a burst of energy, strong and honest emotion and the most brilliant rap sound from this part of the world! Let KASTA be the highlight of your November weekend – for the first time ever in Sweden!
