THE PROGRAM: Vera Polozkova returns to Stockholm with a brand-new program “Hand Luggage”, a dialogue between two authors – composer and poet. Polozkova shares the stage with a renowned contemporary composer Alexander Manotskov. Both have condemned Russia’s invasion into Ukraine, both left their home country after the start of the war and now live in exile abroad. ”Hand luggage” is a mix of their personal archives, the stories they eyewitness. It’s a blend of their confessions about life before the war. It’s about what we actually took with us when we left.
Vera Polozkova says: “We sing and read about what one feels when the world is cracking right under feet. It’s about war, loss and gratitude, hope and despair. It’s about memory. It’s about what remains yours when everything is gone. It’s about what cannot be taken away from you as long as you are alive”. Part of the funds raised at this show will be donated as humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

She has been awarded and nominated for numerous literary prizes. Polozkova links the grand tradition of classical poetry with modern urban spoken word.
